Lakeview at Market District | Spring Break In The Boro

If you plan to be in Statesboro for Spring Break due to work or other reasons, we have few suggestions on what to do in the Boro during Spring Break. Below are our top three Spring Break options that should liven up your week.
1.)    Blackwater Preserve: Located just minutes from Statesboro and Georgia Southern University, Blackwater Preserve offers kayaking, canoeing, and camping in pristine wetlands. There are miles of waterways and land trails for hours of fun and adventure. You can go fishing or just paddle through the cypress swamp to take in the numerous birds and animals in this unspoiled back-to-nature preserve. They even offer student discounts.

2.)    Tybee Island: Whether it’s for the weekend or for the day, Tybee Island is only an hour drive away. You can bring your chairs and veg out with your toes in the sand. If the beach water is too cold, there are plenty of dining and shopping options to keep you busy. You can also enjoy the sweeping, panoramic views from the top of the Tybee Light Station & Museum, situated on the site of the first light to aid navigation constructed on the Southern Atlantic coast. You can also catch a classic film where soldiers stationed at Fort Screven used to at the Tybee Post Theater, or visit the resident turtles at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. Along with this, Downtown Savannah is a short 20 minutes away.

3.)    Speaking of Downtown Savannah, our top pick for things to do during Spring Break is St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah. It is an exciting time for Savannah and its surrounding area! Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day is the one of the biggest in the world. Their parade and festivities draw in millions of people from all over. Out of all of the festivals and events on River Street and in City Market, none is bigger, better or greener than their St. Patrick’s Day Festival. Vendors line the street with gifts and goodies and bands perform live music on stages all over downtown Savannah. You can kick off St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah right with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This main event brings everything together – family, friends and fun. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah is the second largest in the U.S., right behind New York. More than 500,000 people are expected to visit and enjoy the city-wide festivities. With numerous people and events, you’ll be sure see plenty of green, and will have lots of fun things to do.
